Poland is a nice little village on NY 28 just sw outside of the Park boundary. Now the road is back in Herkimer County, where it will stay for about another 40 miles. In the village center, we meet NY 8 as it goes from Speculator to Utica The Town of Russia is the countryside outside the village. It is located along the east bank of the West Canada Creek, which NY 28 will now follow all the way to Herkimer, offering plenty of water access points along the road. Also, after Poland and the junction on NY 8, NY 28 is now the Southern Adirondack Trail for a few more miles into Middleville. Also, in Barnveld, the Central Adirondack Trail went west to Rome on NY Route 365. In Poland, at the junction on NY Route 8 in the village center, our NY Route 28 becomes the Southern Adirondack Trail from here to Middleville. |
