Friends Lake is a pleasant little resort area 3 miles north of NY 28, on the north-east side of the Hudson River, about 10 miles north of Warrensburg. Technically, it's in Chestertown, but there are no signs to mark that. It can be accessed off of Potter Brook Road, Atateka Drive or Friends Lake Road, all off of NY 28 about 5 miles from the eastern terminus of the route. It has a few cabin rental outits, the Circle B Horseback Riding Ranch and an upscale resort and restaurant. However, there are no stores for basic necessities, but you are not far from Warrensburg by car.
For travelers from the North you can access Friend;s Lake via Chestertown at Exit 25 of the Adironrack Northway. Just take US 9 south through the town and take a right on Stock Farm Road about 3 miles south.
